Google, not giving in to the American internet snoops, but anything for the Chinese communist department of KTTFTCP "Keep The Truth From The Chinese People". Where do we go from here, guys?

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-01-26T21:31:07Z</dcterms:modified>

Why are Mastercard and Visa Penalizing Military Members?

So what's up with Mastercard and Visa?

I have two debit cards for my banks back in the states. Since I do not have an account in an Italian bank I have to pay for everything in Euro or use my debit cards. About 2 months ago, I started getting a 1% fee charged everytime I use my debit cards. I called the banks and they told me that whenever you use the Mastercard or Visa as a charge card overseas that you get charged a 1% processing fee.

Okay, but I'm not using them as credit cards, they are my debit cards. Well, it's all explained in the letter you received several months ago. No, it isn't because I never received any letter. Okay, we'll send you another copy (I still have not received any letter). But, if I use my debit card to purchase, and insert my code in the machine, then it is not a charge purchase, it's a debit purchase. Your right the voice on the phone answered. Then why are you charging me a fee? We're not, you're mistaken.

NO, I'm not mistaken.

Now the only answer I'm getting is that there are soooo many overseas purchases on Mastercard and Visa that they are now charging a 1% processing fee. And, who are the people making so many purchases overseas. Military Members and their dependents.

This upsets me. The military members and their dependents are overseas to protect the American right to freedom and that includes the right to run your business (Mastercard and Visa). So, we're protecting your rights and you are charging us to use your cards. What a bunch of bull.

Now, for my solution. The Department of Defense should start charging a 1% fee to every large credit card corporation to help finance the war. And, out of this 1% fee that the Department of Defense charges you they could reimburse all of us overseas who have to pay Mastercard and Visa 1% to use our own money (debit our accounts) to support us while we're over here.

How would you like that? Wakeup Mastercard and Visa!!!!

I went to the ATM machine today to get $500 to ship my Jeep back to the states. Instead of the usual $1.50 ATM fee I was charged 1% of the amount ($5). When I called my bank, now I am told that as of the 4th of August 2005, all international ATM transactions will be charged 1% of the withdrawal instead of the $1.50 fee. Of course I never received any letter on this change either.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2005-08-04T15:50:08Z</dcterms:modified>
