Let's Not Go Down That Path!

What path am I referring to, the path to distruction as revealed in the book of Revelations.  I see us headed in that direction and it saddens me.  Personally, I have no solutions, no big plans for saving mankind.  I only know that the future is not set in stone, there are only pre-cursors, things can be altered, they can be changed.

I think that everyone involved should back off and let Israel settle it's own problems.  Israel want its soldiers returned, dead or alive, to Israel.  I don't see that as such a big request.  If Lebanon or Hezbullah wants Israel to stop the war, then give them back their soldiers.  If not, then exepect Israel to continue the conflict, to me this concept is simple.

If Iran and Syria keep interferring to the point that they become actors in the conflict, then yes I see others entering on both sides.  And, unfortunately, I see Israel being made out the bad guy by all of the Arab countries in the region.  This, in my opinion, is the goal of Iran and Syria.  When Iran and Syria achieve this goal, then all players will have an excuse to enter the situation on each other's side, against Israel.

If everyone in the region goes against Israel, and backs Israel into a corner where it must fight for its survival, I predict that they will use the nuclear deterrant.  They will have no other choice.  And, at that point, those who hold the nuclear card will have to decide if they too want to use it.

Now, let me make this clear, I am not saying that I want this to happen, quite the opposite, I do not want this to happen.  I am saying that I can see things going in this direction and perhaps if all the other players would step back and let Israel and Hezbullah (Lebanon) work this out themselves, perhaps then a solution to the situation will present itself.

    Secretary Rice in Lebanon

Secretary Conndie Rice is in Lebanon consulting with the Prime Minister, trying to reach a settlement in the Israel/Lebanon conflict.  I'm reading in the news outlets that each enity involved is asking someone else to step in and end the crisis.

It seems to me that everyone is missing the point here.  Israel didn't start this conflict, Palestine and Hezbullah started it.  Now, Lebanon has a Christian element that doesn't want to be bombed; and I can understand this.  However, Hezbullah lives among the Christians; Syria and Iran are running Hezbullah; and the only way to stop this is:

    1.  The Christian faction in Lebanon rises up and kicks out the Hezbullah terrorists.
    2.  Syria quits instigating Hezbullah to attack Israel.
    3.  Iran quits supplying arms and supplies to Syria and to Hezbullah.
or 4.  Israel takes back their old buffer zone.
    or all of the above.

Conndie:  Visiting Lebanon and then Israel isn't going to get you anywhere.  Israel is beyond listening to its old friend the USA.

Now would be a good time to order that set of "battle rattle."

Israel is Amassing On Their Border With Lebanon

Israel has called up its reserves and is amassing its army on the border with Lebanon.  People are saying they can't believe that taking two Israeli soldiers hostage would lead to such a mess.  Well, people believe it, Israel is not messing around.

And, of course America is sending Conndie Rice to slap Israel's hand and tell it to quit all this war stuff.  Aferall, people are starting to take them serious and what would happen then?  Conndie, I think this would be a great photo op for you.  You could stop off in Iraq and pick up a full set of "battle rattle."  What a great campaign poster that would make.  You, right there in the front lines with Israel, in full "battle rattle," when all hell breaks loose.

I don't think you'd have to worry about Hillary being there to steal the show.  I really can't see Hillary in full "battle rattle" anywhere.  And then too, she'd have to take Bill with her and him running around pinching women in abyas just wouldn't help her campaign any.

No, Conndie, I think you've got a great opportunity here.  Just let me know your size and I'll have Brandy (the female soldier in my photo album) have it standing by in Iraq.  What a great idea.  God bless America

    Paul Harvey News and Comment

    PAUL HARVEY NEWS AND COMMENT

Today on my lunch break, as usual, I was listening to Paul Harvey News and Comment.  I've been listening to Paul Harvey for many years and I always try to catch his 7:30AM and 1:00PM shows and sometimes I even catch his 6PM "The Rest of the Story."

Well, today he was discussing the Israel/Lebanon conflict.  By the way, what happened to Palestine in all this?  Anyway, Paul Harvey said that two plane loads of immigrants TO Israel had arrived at the Ben Gerring Airport in Israel today.  Immigrants who felt that God could have placed the Israelis anywhere on earth, but he had chosen the Middle East.  To the immigrants this meant that Israel was the place God wanted them, in the Mother Land.

I would like to know where these immigrants to Israel came from?  Were they Jewish or just people who wanted to stand and fight with Israel?  I think that these immigrants just might have something there.  If I were younger and single, I think I'd join them.

I haven't been able to locate any information on these immigrants to Israel; does anyone out there in blog world have any information?

    Who Started What Here?

    Just Who Started What Here?

Since the Israeli/Lebanon/Palestine fiasco started I have been following news casts closely and I'd like to know just who started what here.  Everyone seems to be calling upon Israel to stop what they started.   I thought that Palestine and then Hezbollah took Israeli soldiers captive first; then Israel took actions to free their soldiers; which in turn led to an offensive (war) in Lebanon.

Now, because Israel doesn't mess around when terrorists take their citizens captive they have become the trouble makers and need to be reprimanded by the UN.  Okay, let me get this straight----Iran, North Korea, China, Russia, everyone and his brother can terrorize the rest of the world and we threaten them, sanction them, get UN resolutions against them, and then we offer them all kinds of incentives to be good, and then finally we just step back and let them have their way; but, if someone stands up to them, sends some missiles up their back sides, and refuses to let them have their way-----They're wrong and they damn well better stop showing terrorists they mean business.

Excuse me, just who started this crap anyway?

    Dear MSN Spaces

    Dear MSN Spaces:

Where do blogs go when they disappear from your space?  My so-called archived blogs from last year and the comments attached and this year's Father's Day Blog have disappeared.  I noticed during my Best of MSN Blogs last year that blogs and comments disappeared and I couldn't get an answer to my question back then either.

I have come to the conclusion that my really good blogs have gone to blog heaven.  The only explanation I have is that God doesn't leave comments, he just takes what he likes.

    Thanks

    Israel

    Israel At War

The Bible, though the basis of Christianity today, is also a book of historical fact.  Being an historian by trade, I have found the Bible to be a source of historical information worth quoting.  I have lost a good deal of blog readers due to what they consider religious rhetoric.  (Oh, there she goes quoting the Bible, trying to fill our minds and hearts with religious banter.)   I find that train of thought quite humorous, as I am the last person that anyone who knows me would consider religious (ask my daughter).

I quote the Bible from an hisorical perspective.

I am sure, and I think that Israel is at least aware, that the Israeli soldiers taken captive by Palestine and Lebanon have been tortured and killed by now.  I think that their cature was just the last straw in a long line of broken straws.  Syria controls Lebanon and Iran controls Syria.  Not long ago Iran swore that when they had the nuclear bomb, Israel would be erased from the face of the earth.  I would be willing to bet that they have it or are very close and the wheels are being set in motion.   In order to avoid world criticism for attacking Israel, it would be best to provoke Israel into starting things.

President Bush has been wanting to attack Syria and Iran but he doesn't want to go down in history as the president who launched an all-out war in the middle east, Iraqi has turned into too much of a disaster.  However, he was on the news stating that "Israel had the right to defend itself."  You didn't hear that line during Desert War I and II.

Regardless if any country comes to the aid of Israel, Israel will defend itself.  I think they have been pushed as far into a corner as they are willing to go without defending themselves.  Members of the Jewish religion have learnt a valuable lesson from Hitler, not to go meekly to their deaths.

The Bible states in Genesis 12:3 "I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." This was the promise to Abraham.  Israel was not allowed to join the Coalition forces in the 1991 Gulf War, because the Anti-Semitic Arab countries screamed against them.  President George H. W. Bush asked Israel not to retaliate when bombarded with 39 Scud missiles, and Israel honored his request.  For their cooperation, America rewarded them by freezing a $10 billion dollar loan guarantee that Israel needed to provide housing for Russian Jewish refugees.  Israel was then forced to agree to give up land for peace--peace that has never come.

Historically the US has been Israel's closest ally, but the lure of OPEC oil has chipped away at America's dedication to that alliance.  The US then gave Syria one billion dollars which Syria used to purchase North Korean missiles, missiles that are now in Lebanon in the hands of Hizbullah and are aimed at the cities of Israel.

It is said that the last great war will be faught over Jerusalem, the Holy City of Muslims, Jews, and Christians.  Although Muslims come here to my blog and tell me that they are a peaceful religion that does not go along with these radical Muslims, these terrorists, I know that they do nothing to police their religion because they are as afraid of these radical, terrorists as we are.  They should know that if these terrorists, these radical Muslims win their terrorist war, peaceful Muslims will be slaughtered the same as the rest of us infidels.

These are hard times, bad times, times that pit each of us against the other.  We all need to stand up and fight for what is right, for the common good or we will parish together at the hands of those who see us as infidels.   If we turn our backs on Israel, we will be looking at the end of all we hold dear, we will hear the trumpets of our doom.

    Happy Birthday!

    Happy Birthday
    to
    my husband
    Allen!

I want to wish a happy birthday to my husband who is 44 years old today!  For putting up with me for 15 years, he deserves a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

    Isreal at War

    ISREAL IS AT WAR
    WITH LEBANON AND PALESTINE

Isreal is at war with Lebanon and Palestine because Hamas and Hezbollah took Isreali soldiers captive and refuses to return them.  I listened to CNN at lunch and both countries are saying that Isreal started the conflict.

Lebanon and Palestine both know that they can not win a war with Isreal.  There is a bigger agenda here.  I'd be looking to Iran and Syria.

I hate to say it, but
    I TOLD YOU SO!

    Americans Have a Disease

Mikhail Gorbachev, the man given credit for the fall of the Soviet Union, was recently quoted as saying:

"Americans have a severe disease--worse than AIDS.  It's called the winner's complex.  You want an American style-democracy here.  That will not work."

Mr. Gorbachev was referring to American arrogance when dealing with foreign affairs.

While living in Europe, I found that American arrogance was very noticeable.  We think that we are superior to the rest of the human race.  This attitude, coupled with the arrogant actions we display, is and has won American's few if any fans.

Although Americans may not agree with China and Russia's governments and their ways of dealing with world events, we should stop and try to look at things from their prospective.

Who are we to demand that they deal with Iran, North Korea, or South American countries the same as we do.  For that matter, who are we to demand that North Korea or Iran not be allowed to test missiles or build nuclear bombs?  Do you think that world opinion would have made a difference in America developing the nuclear bomb during WWII?  You can believe that we would not have paid one bit of attention to anyone/any country back in those days telling us to do anything other than that which we had our minds set on doing.  We need to start worrying about our own business here at home.  We need to start worrying more about our own problems, and God knows we have a lot of those.

So, thank you Mr. Gorbachev for pointing out American ideology for us.  But do you, Mr. Gorbachev, think it will make any difference?  I think not.

And, God said let there be rain

And, God said let there be rain!
    And, there was rain.
For 9 months we have been hot and dry.  Not a raindrop in sight.  They told us that the monsoon season was in August and like last year they didn't expect much rain.  Well, folks, they lied!  Last week we had a heavy rainstorm and the roads were muddy and holely.  But, this past Saturday, we had a cloud burst.  I mean we had 2 inches of rain in less than an hour.

And, where does rain go in the desert?  It doesn't soak into the sand, it forms rivers and runs downhill.  Now our house is on a flat piece of desert so we got some water damage from rain coming in through a couple roof vents.  But, it just got some carpet wet around the baseboards and we used the wet vac to clean it up.  There was some water build up on the side of the house opposite the garage that eroded a little dirt in the backyard.

HOWEVER, the dirt roads leading out to the house and out to the highway are gone.  I mean it looks like the Grand Canyon out there.  With my Jeep, and yes it is my Jeep, I paid for it, I have no problem driving out the walking paths to the highway; but our Beetle Bug isn't going anywhere.  And, unfortunately, some of our neighbors drive only cars, which are no go.

So, yesterday our wonderful mayor filed paperwork to declare Rio Rancho a disaster area to get state and federal money to rebuild the roads.  Then he has the nerve to come out to our neighborhood and tell us that since we chose to live in an area with dirt roads, it's up to us to pay to fix them.

This was my reply to our mayor:
    1.  When I bought this house, I was told that eventually this neighborhood would be paved.  That is when enough people bought land and built houses, Rio Rancho Northeast would be paved.
    2.  I am paying up the butt for property taxes to Rio Rancho when before I moved here they only received a few dollars tax for the land.
    3.  If Rio Rancho doesn't want to maintain the roads out here, dirt or paved, that's fine with me.  I, personally, have no problem getting out when I want to.
    4.  I don't have to worry about the gangs and criminals trying to get out here since they would have to walk, which means they make a good target.
    5.  My solution to the problem is for a group of the neighbors around here who own milliion dollar homes and I should get a lawyer and sue for our share of those state and federal disaster funds to fix our dirt roads and then we should declare posse comitatus and not pay property taxes at all.

And, then God said let there be light,
    and he created the sun.

Dr. Wen Ho Lee's $1.6 million Settlement

I would like to write a short blog on Dr. Wen Ho Lee's recent over $1 million settlement with the US Government and several journalists.  For anyone out there who does not know who Dr. Lee is, he was accused of spying for China at the Los Alamos Nuclear Laboratory here in New Mexico.  Dr. Lee has been acquited of these charges and in turn sued for the time he was falsely imprisoned and for his reputation being ruined in the news media.

Dr. Lee held one of this country's highest security clearances in order to work at Los Alamos.  He was not born in the United States, he was born in Taiwan, China, but he was a naturalized citizen of the US.  He frequently entertained Chinese officials in his home, which doesn't make him a spy, but makes people wonder.  From personal experience, before being allowed to have your clearance and allowed to have access to classified information, a person is trained on how to handle such materials.  You are taught the differences between levels of classified information, that you do not mix classified with unclassified material (such as copying classified on an unclassified copier or transferring classified information from a classified computer to an unclassified computer), and you are taught that any disks used on classified computers can not be used on unclassified computers or removed from a classified area to an unclassified area.  Paperwork has to be signed and on file to prove that you have received this training and the training is mandatory every year that you hold your clearance.

Dr. Lee admitted to removing classified material from a Los Alamos computer and taking the disk home with him; but, he stated that he didn't know that he was not allowed to do this.  I, personally, find that impossible to believe.  However, the removal of classified materials in itself was a federal crime.  Now, officials couldn't prove that Dr. Lee gave this classified information to anyone in the Chinese government, so the spying charges had to be dropped.  I have been unable to find where Dr. Lee was sentenced to time in jail for the removal of the classified material or perhaps that charge was dropped also.

What really gets me is that although Dr. Lee did something wrong (taking classified US Government materials off the computer and taking that material out of a classified area) he is released and in turn sues the US Government for arresting him in the first place.  For which he receives a large sum of taxpayer money.  He also sues to find out who told the news media that he was a spy and for that the news media has to pay him a large sum of money because they printed the story in the paper.  Dr. Lee claims that our governor, Bill Richardson, is the person who told the news media and started the fiasco.

Well, if it was Bill Richardson that told information that he shouldn't have, why didn't Dr. Lee sue him.  And, this guy (Bill Richardson), our wonderful governor, thinks he should be president???  The US would never have a secret if this were true.

I'm just adding 2 + 2 in this incident and coming up with 4 instead of $1.6 million.

Firing of Missiles by North Korea!

Firing of Missiles by North Korea
The weird, little man in North Korea is firing missiles into the Sea of Japan.  He is just performing political posturing, trying to find his place in the political world.  He isn't impressing anyone and his missiles are not working very well to boot.

America has its Navy positioned in the Sea of Japan and they are capable of shooting down any missiles that by a miracle do come near the US or its allies.  So, dispite the chain rattling going on in Washington and the demand for UN intervention, we are in no danger from North Korea.

    American Independence Day!

    Happy 4th of July!
    Happy 230th Birthday to America!

The signing of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776 occurred in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Our forefathers, unhappy about taxation without representation by Great Britian, met in Philadelphia to declare independence; however, they were not ready to declare war.  Thomas Jefferson was chosen to write the first draft of the Declaration of Independence that was presented to the Continental Congress on June 28, 1776.  A vote was taken by the Continental Congress late in the afternoon of July 4th.  Of the 13 colonies, 9 voted in favor of the Declaration of Independence, 2 (Pennsylvania and South Carolina) voted against, Delaware was undecided and New York abstained (did not vote).  The first newspaper to print the Declaration of Independence was the Pennsylvania Evening Post on July 6, 1776.  The Declaration was first read publicly in Philadelphia's Independence Square on July 8, 1776.  Although the signing of the Declaration of Independence was not completed until August 1776, July 4th is the accepted, official anniversary of the Declaration of US independence.  The American Revolution, fought to achieve our independence, was a long, hard war.  A war almost lost if not for the support and help from France.  I hope that Americans would pause and reflect upon the true meaning of Independence Day, realize the price Americans have and will continue to pay to ensure the freedoms we hold so dear.  Nothing in this world is free.  However, America is the only country on this earth that ensured equality and freedom for all citizens and to ensure these freedoms for our children we will have to continue to fight those who would take our freedoms from us.  God Bless America!
