    Trade With China

On the way to work this morning I listened to Public Radio.  They were discussing the fact that China had not lived up to their side of the trade agreement and that the U.S. was considering lodging a complaint with the UN.  I thought that I would blog a little on this situation today.

First, China never intended to live up to its side of the trade agreement when they made it and politicians in the U.S. should have been able to deduce this fact from the plethora of past agreements.  Even I have been able to assertain that China wants to flood the world trade market with its low cost goods in order to procure as much of the world's monetary funds to build its infrastructure and take its place as a world superpower.  If I can figure this out, why can't Washington?

China's booming domestic economy, rapid urbanization, and the Chinese peoples' voracious appetite for cars is increasing China's demand for oil and natural gas.  By 2030 China's population will reach 1.5 billion and with this fact comes its growing energy needs.  China is now turning to resource-rich developing countries to supply its needs.  Oil dependence, in particular, has made China an active player in the Middle East.  More than 45 percent of China's oil imports are coming from the Middle East as of 2004.

In Oct 2004, the Chinese state-controlled Petroleum Corporation known as Sinopec signed an oil and natural gas agreement with Tehran, Iran worth approximately $70 billion.  China committed to developing the giant Yadavarian oil field and to purchase 250 million tons of liquefied natural gas over the next 30 years, inturn Iran agreed to export to China 150,000 barrels of oil per day, at market price, for the next 25 years.

China has challenged U.S. influence in Africa by establishing the China-Africa Corporation Forum (CACF) to promote trade with 44 African countries.  It has promised $20 billion in new investment for oil and gas exploration and other projects in Latin America.  Last year, China invested $1.4 billion in Latin America making it the main impetus for export growth in that region.

The U.S. has been on the losing side of trade patterns by allowing China to strike deals in its backyard.  Even Australia, one of Washington's staunchest allies, has agreed to export, this year, $1 billion dollars worth of liquefied natural gas, and every year for the next 25 years.  China is even now concluding a series of energy and resource agreements, to develop Canada's natural gas sector, its vast oil sands deposits in Alberta, and its uranium sector.  Canada and China have signed a memorandum of understanding to build a $2 billion dollar pipeline to carry oil to the western coast of Canada for shipment to Asia.

China's quest for natural resources has engaged it in relations with rogue nations.  This has caused China to undermine U.S. goals such as isolating rogue governments or punishing them for failing to promote democracy, comply with international laws, limit nuclear proliferation, or respect human rights.  China is undermining U.S. efforts to contain Iran's nuclear ambitions by resisting the imposition of sanctions against the Islamic Republic in its efforts to enrich uranium.  China is placing itself in the position of backing Iranian policies such as its threats to obliterate the state of Israel.

Here in lies my contension, WWIII will begin in the Middle East over religious and economic ideologies.  Israel will not allow Iran to hold her captive by waving their nuclear weapons in her face.  If Israel were to bomb Iranian nuclear facilities, China would come to Iran's defense and Russia, having signed a defense treaty with China, would have to live up to that treaty and stand behind China--the U.S. would stand behind Israel--and the Bible's ascertation of a red army of over 1 million soldiers would be fulfilled bythe last great and nuclear war.

What's your opinion of China's economic situation?  What do you think of China flooding the world trade market?

    Who Was That Masked Man?

    WAY TO GO
    SEAN WHITE!!!

I've been enjoying the Winter Olympics, the little that I get to see.  I must admit that I know nothing about snowboarding, but Sean White put on quite a show.

So, now the Muslims are rioting over a cartoon depicting Mohamnad with a missile in his turban.  I saw the cartoon and found it amusing.  Muslims rioting---doesn't surprise me---but I thought that Muslims were a peaceful sect.  After my personal experience with Muslims on my blog last summer, I can personally state that Muslim behavior is typical of the violent behavior of its founder.  Mohamnad was not a peaceful individual--those who did not renounce their religion and follow him were usually killed.  Now on the other hand-----how many cartoons have I read over the years pointing fun at angels, God, and Christ.   I've never kept a count, but there were many.  How many times have I heard that Christians were rioting in the street over just such a cartoon?  None that I remember.  Guess it's another instance of--"If the shoe fits, wear it."

On another topic---the nurse at the VA who was accused of sedition because of a letter she wrote advocating the violent overthrow of the US government.  I do not advocate violent measures to overthrow the current administration; however, I do think that Americans need to use democratic means to take back their government.   By this, I mean, GET OUT AND VOTE.  The government that was founded "By the people, For the people" needs to get back to the basics.  Get rid of Lobbying!  Our forefathers must be really turning over in their graves because of the things perpetrated in this country in the name of freedom.  As someone who has travel extensively, I can tell you that America is the best country on the face of this earth and each of us needs to do what they can to keep it that way.

Get rid of Spanish as a second language----America was founded by men who defended the English language---if you want to live here then--like my father before me--speak English no matter what country you come from.  While I lived in Italy for 3 years, Italy didn't make English its second language to accommodate all the American military stationed there.  You're in America----act like an American!!!!

    Today's My Birthday

Today is my birthday---me and the groundhog.  I did see my shadow this morning on the way to work; however, I don't think that it will affect the weather.  Especially here in New Mexico--it's just another warm, dry day and cold night.

Well, tomorrow is going to be a big day here in Albuquerque--PRESIDENT BUSH IS COMING TO VISIT.

He's coming to discuss his State of the Union speech.  Am I going to listen?  No, I have to work.  I hope that he has a nice visit and I hope that he's practiced his Spanish (folks here think that we live in Mexico).  I remember the first president I saw many years ago, President Kennedy.  I told him I wanted to be an astronaut.  He told me that America only had male astronauts, but I should pray that someday women would be allowed in space.  I'm happy to see that women now are as well represented as men.  I saw President Ford twice while working at Offutt AFB, Nebraska.  He seemed like a very nice man, but quite shy.  Then while working at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska we were required to attend base visits by President Clinton.  The military didn't like him much and I do mean that we were made to go, otherwise I doubt that many would have attended.  I'm afraid that now-a-days I'm just not interested in standing in crowds for hours waiting to see and hear the President.  I have nothing against him personally, but I'm just not interested anymore.  I figure if I'm important enough, he'll stop by some time and have a chat.

I do wish he'd do something while he's here about the large illegal immigrant problem we have here in New Mexico.  It's getting way out of hand.  The illegal immigrants have more rights and benefits here than the American citizens.  They get free drivers' licenses, welfare, housing, and student loans.  Wake Up America!!!!  Take care of your own citizens before you take care of the illegal immigrants that Vicent Fox needs fence up to keep in.
