Who invented the telephone political ad?

As I sit at home recuperating, and trying to do my work from home, the phone keeps ringing with political ads. No human contact, just a recording of a political ad for one candidate or another. And, I have call blocking!!!! But they still get through. What a pain in the butt. Whoever out in the big world invented this technic of bugging folks should be shot. I'm really sick of this election crap.

Enough of the Political Commercials

While I have been home recuperating from surgery, I have had the opportunity to watch more television. And, I want to say ENOUGH OF THE POLITICAL COMMERCIALS. Not just the presidential election, but the local and state elections too. It seems like they have been going on for years now. I would like to propose two things for the next election cycle. 1. Place a limit on the number of months election commercials can be shown on TV and 2. Political commercials can only show what the candidate is going to do for us when they get into office--NO MORE THROWING STONES AT THE OPPONENT. I'm sick of hearing what the other person did during their life that was bad. I just don't give a damn. No one is perfect and if a political candidate can't tell you what they stand for, then they shouldn't be allowed to run for office.

Sarah Pallin's Inciting Racial Hatred

I want to say first off that basically I like Sarah Pallin. She reminds me of all the friends I left in Alaska to come to Kirtland. But, I have been following the speeches she's been giving across the country and I don't like the way that she is stirring up racial hatred. All the remarks about Obama being Muslim, an Arab, friends with terrorists, etc., are only inciting radial hatred in this country. Now, I understand that the Republicans are trying to gain points over the Democrats; and the entire process is to win the election; however, I lived through the 60s and 70s and I do not want a replay. So, Sarah--tone down the hate mongering or don't make speeches at all.

And, The World Keeps On Turning

Well, the surgery is over and I'm slowly healing. It's been a very painful experience that I wouldn't recommend for anyone unless it's necessary. However, it's given me a long time to lay and contemplate things. I watched the last debate between McCain and Obama--I think that they are both good men and only time will tell. Bush on the other hand waited too long to do anything for the economy and I don't see any fix soon. The $700B is not going to fix anything and if all the companies involved are like AIG we'll be in deeper. The gas prices in Albuquerque have fallen to $2.55 a gallon which tells me that we were getting ripped off. Prices do not decline that fast if refineries are really having problems because of the weather. It's all one big game--who can sucker who out of what. While I was laid up the University Police arrested one woman for ID theft in relationship to my purse being stolen. Channel 7 News called me because they saw my name in the court papers. Sure was nice of the police to let me know they had arrested someone and were taking her to court!! Typical in this town. Channel 7 wanted to interview me for a piece on how to prevent ID theft; I said I wasn't in shape to do an interview, so my husband did the interview and it was about folks wanting to buy safes now to protect themselves. Sometimes these news reporters make me wonder--they edit the interview to make it sound like we are almost broke now--that's far from the truth. It did cost me a lot, but I'm not broke. Today I found out that a police officer who lives several blocks from my house was robbed. Some teenagers broke into his house and stole all his guns. Crime is getting way out of hand. I'm waiting for them to try to get into my house now that I'm home all day. I can see folks turning to vigilantism because the law enforcement agencies are not doing their jobs. On top of that, winter is moving into New Mexico--about time.

Scar Revision

Sorry I haven't blogged much lately.  I finally got the U.S. Government to pay to fix a scar I've had since 1984.  The scar had grown into the abdominal muscle and was causing a lot of pain.  It was caused originally by a military surgeon who had to take my intestines out and clean out all the original scar tissue and didn't sew things right when he was finished.

For years I tried to get the government to fix a mess they made to begin with and they kept saying I just wanted a cosmetic fix.  Now the scar is gone, but as the surgery team said, they cut me from stem to stern.  Now isn't that a Navy term?

I'm having some pain and it's difficult to do some things with a drainage tube and bottle to carry around.  But when this is all over, I have a lot to blog about.

The Economic Crisis

I haven't been blogging about the economic crisis because I'm not an economist. I had economics in college; but, it wasn't my best subject--by far. But, now I'm going to speak out about AIG. The government gives them billions to keep them from going under and what do they do with our taxpayer dollars? They go to a retreat with $440,000 and spend another $100,000 on senior executive bonuses. Now they are begging for more money, cause they didn't pay their debts. Well, I'm not an economic genius; but, I say, "HELL NO." I agree with Sarah Palin that there needs to be a committee set up to collect the receipts from these companies when they spend some of our money. They made their messes by lying and cheating people and they just keep lying about where our taxpayer dollars are going now. Our government is stupid enough to rescue them, and it's stupid enough to not hold them accountable for taxpayer buy out monies. Where are the filthy rich, Middle East countries while the world goes down the tubes? They've been robbing us blind with high oil prices and when Iceland calls for financial rescue--do we see any Middle East countries helping them out. NOT ONLY NO, BUT HELL NO! Where is Robin Hood when ya need him?
